MLK/Starbucks Ad.

I'm a week behind, but I still wanted to scan this ad and share it.
Did anyone else see it? Sorry for the quality.
I had the newspaper folded up and carried it home on the plane with me.
I thought it was very clever and poignant.
The small print says, "It's time to look at things differently. Again."
It's a full page with a small Starbucks logo at the very bottom.
Bravo Starbucks advertising peeps!

Okay, I just Googled it and came up with a much better visual, still small,
but if you click on it you'll see a larger view. I love that AdWeek liked it as much as I did.

Seahawks fever.

I'm more of a baseball fan than a football fan, but living in the Pacific NW it's difficult not to be a Seahawks fan. Now that they're headed to another Super Bowl, it's even more exciting. You can't go anywhere around here without seeing a bedecked fan and the Seahawks logo on everything from beer to lingerie.
But it was the game last Sunday, the NFC Championship game, that sealed the deal for me and gave me my motto for this year. You've probably all heard about the game by now. If not, you can read about it here, with a great little info graphic here. In a nutshell, with just over three minutes to play in the game, down 19-7, the Seahawks pulled off a 1% chance of winning. It was incredible! I'm embarrassed to say that I gave up on them. I couldn't even watch. I went back to reading my book until my sister called out to me, "You might want to come back in here." I didn't think there was any possible way of them winning, but there was and they did. NEVER GIVE UP!

Sad news.

My dad passed away on Tuesday. I was blessed to be able to spend the last week of his life at his bedside at my sister's house in Dallas. He was 83 and his health had been deteriorating for the last year. In the end it was cancer that took him. This photo was taken last January when I was visiting him in Southern California. We'd gone down to Newport Beach for an evening picnic. I'll always have such wonderful memories…his pipe tobacco, all the baseball games, him teaching us to body surf, his silly jokes and puns, and his love of numbers (which I inherited)…just to name a few!

Bear hug.

I'm just filling out my new calendar this morning.
It's the 2015 Edward Gorey wall calendar that I'm just loving.
Above is September, one of my favorites (image and month!).

Happy New Year!

I love a fresh slate, a new calendar, new year resolutions,
reflecting on the last year and planning for the new one.
Life definitely has its ups and downs, but the future is looking bright!
I'm wishing everyone a healthy, happy + prosperous 2015. xo
