Notions.

A friend gave me an old box of sewing supplies and I found these inside. These first three have a copyright date of 1940. Couldn't find dates on the others, but judging by the prices, they're old. I'm going to try using the tracing paper. The paper you buy today just isn't as good as the old stuff. Buttonholes, on the other hand, are much easier on my machine today!

Sewn Art by Miyuki Sakai.

I could not stop looking at these gorgeous pages in the June issue of Martha Stewart Living. Not of the tarts, but the plates they are on....all sewn pieces of art! What a talent! Check out Miyuki's website and the whole spread from MSL.

Learning.

I'm desperate to be sewing, but I have no time or space right now. Sew....I thought that I'd make some potholders. Here's my first attempt. At first I did not have enough batting to make it thick enough so I tried doubling it up which helped, but then I found that they make thermal batting for projects just like this. I'm learning. Off to try again....

P. S. I just won a fabric giveaway over at Pink Chalk Studio! I'm so excited!
