Lotta love.

I've always admired Lotta Jansdottter's work so when I was in NYC and saw that she did a line for Fishs Eddy and that it was 50% off, I was so excited. I didn't buy a lot, but I really wanted a few of her pieces...a glass and soap dish (or that's what I'm using if for) for the the bathroom, and a couple of juice glasses.

Then I saw this on one of my favorite blogs this week, Pink Chalk Studio
Might have to get some fabric too!

Philly.

I took a 24-hour detour down to Philadelphia when I was on the east coast last week. My daughter's WWU crew team was invited to the Dad Vail regatta and it was purely coincidence that I got to be there. After Saturday's race I had a few hours in the fabulous Philadelphia Museum of Art.

"Three Figures" by John Serl...loved this!

"The Kiss" by Constantin Brancusi

A classic by Andy Warhol

and another one by Roy Lichtenstein

The story goes that Philadelphia is the birthplace of rowing in the U.S.
and they take it very seriously.

There wasn't much time for sightseeing, but after dinner we did walk around town a bit.

We saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall

We were looking for Ben Franklin's house, but just found this...

Shopping NYC.

There wasn't a lot of time to shop,
but we did manage to head down to the Flatiron District for a bit.

I went to NYC on a budget, which is not easy to do, but my hosts spoiled me rotten. The one place I did splurge was at Central Art Supply. The paper selection was just incredible. This was just a sliver of their selection....

We also went to a couple more paper stores, then Muji and Marimekko, had lunch at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that was excellent! Dinner and gelato at Eataly.

Patty + Ron's NYC.

My lovely hosts while I was in NYC, Patty and Ron, and their cat, Saylor. They have a fab apartment...not surprised, Patty makes a wonderful home anywhere and is an amazing hostess. I had the best time!

Laura and me. Our moms were friends since nursery school.
I hadn't seen her since 1999...we had a great time catching up.
